VAMFF 2015 NATIONAL GRADUATE SHOWCASE

The National Graduate Showcase is consistently a highlight of the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival, and this year was a particularly strong offering. After over 130 students across the country applied for the showcase, twelve finalists were selected from leading institutions and universities across Australia. On Thursday the 19th of March the National Graduate Showcase, was presented by Target and showcased original collections from the next generation of Australian fashion design talent. I think that this runway event is a great opportunity to support the future of Australian fashion and believe it’s very important we continue to support emerging talent to ensure the steady growth of our fashion industry. This year’s runway showcased popping bright colours and innovative designs in both men and women’s wear. I think that all the designers involved were incredibly talented, but if I had to choose a favourite from the night it would be either Sofie Teh from Sydney’s University of Technology or Lauren Acciarito from Victoria’s RMIT. I am more than certain this will not be the last time we see these talented designers flooding the runway.
