Sophie Costello is the photographer and creative director behind Pantomime Photography. Residing in Melbourne, Australia her greatest interest lies within fashion, beauty, commercial and conceptual photography. 

Sophie’s passion for photography became evident at a young age, when her ambitions to follow photography developed in the high school dark room. She continued to develop her photography skills while studying at the North Melbourne Institute of TAFE, where she completed a diploma of Photo-Imaging. Graduating with high distinctions, Sophie was awarded a departmentaal excellence award from NMIT and the award for ‘Most Creative Folio’ from Sunstudios at the Photo-Imaging Graduate Exhibition. Sophie then founded Pantomime Photography; a fully-fledged professional freelance business with a strong focus on quality photography and a love of detail.

As a practiced photographer she combines a love and passion for her craft with a dedication to running her business in an ethical, and professional manner. Whether it’s on location or in the studio, Sophie applies herself with passion and determination, while bringing her concepts to life. Her professionalism and ability to manage tight shoot-schedules is supported by her easygoing nature. Her energy, her smile and her enthusiasm for her work are all contagious. Sophie has a natural ability to put people at ease in front of the camera and is good with posing direction and guidance. She prides herself on her attention to detail and insists on giving clients detailed pre-shoot briefs to ensure that client and photographer are attuned. 

Over the years Sophie has developed her own unique style of capturing images and holds a refreshing creative approach to jobs. Her obsession with the intensity and excitement of the fashion world, often aids her passion for bringing concepts to life. Sophie enjoys perusing creative themes within her work; therefore she is often her own art director and enjoys devoting a lot of time to pre-production; creating ideas, outfits, scenes and props for her photo shoots.

Sophie also likes to go traveling where she can experience different ways of life. Spending a lot of time on the beaches of the Mornington Peninsula and on numerous camping trips and bushwalking around Victoria, Sophie has developed a love for nature. She consistently flourishes on location shoots and spends a lot of her spare time location scouting. A pursuit of new experiences pushes Sophie to continually evolve her vision, while reminding her of the importance of carrying her camera with humor, compassion and curiosity.
